Hey guys,

My name is Jeromy and I'm one of the founders of a site called Seedlauncher, which is a site that let's people invest in local, small businesses, in exchange for things like perks and rewards, etc.

We're all really excited about microbrews (I, particularly love microbrews on a daily basis), and I'm sure more than a few of you guys have thought about selling your beer, but maybe need startup money to help get you up and running. If so, check out Seedlauncher and give it a try. Maybe we could help you fulfill that dream. If you have any question hit me up. ***@seedlauncher.com

Everyone would be better to stick with Kickstarter. Established already, not just copying someone else's good idea. It looks better. And it doesn't have users showing man boobs in the pictures, like yours does.

Unless something has changed over at Kickstarter, they do projects, not
business start-ups, so there might be a bit of difference with his company.

You get positive brownie points for a well-written and low-key piece of
spam. It got me thinking about how many potential users of your new
product you probably reached by spamming rec.crafts.brewing. The answer
I came up with was immeasurably close to zero. The fact that there are
probably only a couple of dozen readers left doesn't help, but we're
here because we enjoy brewing and there's a very wide gulf between
brewing for the pleasure of it and brewing for a living.

Negative points for

Spamming

Using the name of your competitor in the subject

Posting from Google

Setting a sexist tone in the first two words

A web site that demands that you register before showing anything

Copying a successful idea without changing it hoping to jump on the
bandwagon when in fact you're just diluting the potential user base.

Not _that_ well-written. I counted 7 errors in his
5 sentences. And most of those 5 sentences sound
like they came from a 5th-grader's "My Summer Vacation"
report.

But I suppose he was in a hurry to get on to the next
newsgroup.

Right. My initial impression was that it was better prose than you
usually see in spam, but that's very faint praise. At least he went to
the trouble to customize it to the newsgroup and change the wording
enough that the spam filters didn't catch it. That doesn't make it any
less spam.

I just don't know, though . . . the crush of traffic in this newsgroup
is so overwhelming these days . . . adding additional traffic is such a
problem. Makes me wonder whether this would count as an "on-topic
thread" if anyone was looking at such things any more.
