I don't know what any of that stuff means. Are you saying my blogger site has been injected with something? Every file I downloaded and archived was intercepted and analyzed by my anti-virus scanner. In fact, the scanner removed a number of files I downloaded which says more about AOL than my little directory. Nevertheless, feel free to run your scanner against any file available. If you find something, I'll need to notify Norton.

Malware report: http://app.webinspector.com/public/reports/23859595

I'm sure there are other similar malware checkers so I suggest running them before making these claims.

Strike one: Posted from Google.

Strike two: References "AOL's Beer & Home Brewing Forum", but the URL is
not to an AOL site.

Strike three: When went to the site, it attempted to start a Java
application. Not Javascript, but Java. There is no conceivable
justification for Java in this context, so my presumption is malware. I
certainly am not going to take a chance of infecting myself to find out.

Most folks here probably never saw your submission since it came from
Google Groups. Most of the rest of them were smart enough not to click
on an unknown link in an article posted from Google Groups by someone
who didn't supply their name. Anyone who would allow a Java application
to run on their workstation from an unknown site is either clueless or
reckless.

Finally, let's examine my "claim", as in "before making these claims".
I said, "It would appear that this site contains malware." Your site is
a textbook example of the telltale signs of a malicious site, and an
excellent illustration of exactly what people should avoid if they don't
want to spend the next few hours trying to disinfect their workstation.

If I were posting this later in the day I'd say "Now it's time for a
homebrew." I will toast your site tonight when I do drink one.

Thanks for the explanation. I can see now that you're misguided about what malware is. FYI: Malware is NOT:

1. A Google post. (rolling eyes) Are you serious?
2. A non-AOL link. Good grief.
3. A Java application. Do you have any f*ing idea how many Java apps are online?

If that's your embarrassing criteria for malware, I suggest you stop using computers altogether because you're part of the problem in the fight against viruses. You basically called the site a malware site without even knowing what malware is or how it operates. Wikipedia gives a great explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malware. I suggest you read it.

Jesus Christ!

1. A Google post. (rolling eyes) Are you serious?
What are you? A teenager? Rolling your eyes and slamming
your bedroom door are not arguments. Steve didn't say
Google posts were malware, but that a post coming from
Google groups is suspicious.

2. A non-AOL link. Good grief.
Ditto. Plus, it's not that it's a non-AOL link, but
that it claimed to be an AOL link but was not. Lying
also makes you and your sight suspicious.

3. A Java application. Do you have any f*ing idea how
many Java apps are online?
Yes. And legitmate ones ask permission before executing.
This is my damn computer and you won't try to execute
anything on it without my permission, unless you're a thief.

I get it. You and your paranoid friend are afraid of Google and Java. You're also afraid to READ the text on a webpage. Since those are *your* problems and not mine, I'll only ask you and your friend to refrain from making bogus claims and filing false reports until you have some proof that you know what the hell you're talking about. Fear and suspicion aren't sufficient reasons to publically post the message that Steve made. Any idiot can see that, but... well, I guess I don't really know you... do I.

Oh well.

Your loss, dummies!
