It probably won't help you with a specific recipe but if you search r.c.b
there have been other postings about blueberries way back when. IIRC it's a
very subtle flavor that would require lots of berries, and something about
the seeds too.

Never heard of it. I have tried Seadog Blueberry, and that tasted
exactly like I was drinking a blueberry pie. I did not like it.

One of my signature recipes uses strictly blueberries. For a 5 gallon
batch, I add between 4-6 pounds, for 10 gallons, I used to add 1 pound
per gallon, but I am backing off to about 8 now.

When I add any fruit, if I am only using a primary, I add it after the
initial fermentation. Most of the time I use two stage and add fruit
to the secondary.

I don't have any recipes other than my own.

I was at a wedding last year in Westhampton Beach (Long Island) and
they had Blue Point Blueberry Ale on tap. I never had blueberry ale
before as I am not much into the fruit flavored beers. However, it
was quite nice, with a subtle, but noticeable blueberry taste. After
driniking two pints of it, I went back for the third. Wouldn't you
know it... they ran out of the stuff! I guess it was a big hit with
everyone at the reception. I have not had it since, but you can
always pick it up at the Blue Point Brewery in Patchogue, Long Island.

At the Sunset Cantina in Allston, MA they serve Seadog Blueberry on tap
and put frozen blueberries in it. The berries sink and float as the CO2
foams on them.. kind of cool to watch when drinking, and its a tastey
bite between swallows.

I have not seen Blue Point around yet.

The web site reports:

Blue Point fresh Blueberry Ale offers an unusual twist on brewing that
turns out to be just perfect. A wonderful blend of fresh blueberries
matched with a thirst quenching distinctive ale. We carefully add 132
lbs of blueberries to each special batch. Brewed with 100% American
ingredients. Enjoy a truly unique flavorful brew!

Technical Description:
1.040 OG and 14 IBUs
4.3% ABV

I happen to be headed to the brewery on saturday for an event, I'll
try to grab someone that works in the brew house and get more details.

Hank,

I finally made it over to BluePoint and was able to speak with Mark,
the head brewer. He told me that the base beer is made with pale and
munich malts. We talked a bit about how much fruit to use, they use
Oregon puree (they buy it in 55 gal drums) and he recomended 1/4 pound
per gallon of beer. They use a proprietary strain of yeast - I'd
guess WY1056 or Safale US-05 would be a good place to start. With the
info from the web site you should be able to plug some numbers into a
recipe calculator and get pretty close.

Hope that helps - Cheers

James
