Novice is making a simple beer type brew using ginger, granulated sugar,
lemons and fruit.

The drink although quite tasty seems thin and lacking 'body'.

I thinking of experimenting by adding Ground Oat Flakes or Cornflour.

But i understand brewing some things produces a poisonous alcohol.

Am I safe adding above to the brew?

Those ingredients should be safe. But this isn't gravy, so
I don't think they'll do what you want. I think most of us
would add unfermentable sugars, rather than starches. Dextrin
or Maltriose or Lactose might do the job.

What yeast are you using? Try using an ale yeast, it gives a more ale-like
ginger ale.
