non-alcoholic uses for brewing equipment?

I have stopped drinking alcohol. I shan't be going into the reasons,
but this is a serious thing, so please no joking about it. Well, OK,
joke about, who am I to to tell anyone what to do? :)

Anyway, I still have a decent bunch of kit, I'd gotten myself to the
point of being a reasonably good all grain brewer. So, I have a wort
chiller, lagering fridge, all manner of buckets and hoses...

Is there anything else that I can make with this stuff?

I guess I could brew a normal batch and then boil it to remove the
alcohol. Or I could try some sort of natural root beer or something?

I guess I have some ideas but would like to accumulate a nice list of
suggestions if anyone would care to offer thoughts. Thanks!

Good luck. Buckets and hoses have potential for garden irrigation. A lot
of times it's better for plants to have water slowly applied directly to
the roots than to have a lot of water sprayed all over them from a hose.

I use a couple corny kegs and a CO2 tank to keep a continuing supply of soda
water. A teaspoon of flavor syrup in the glass, then fill it from the corny.
Flavor syrups they sell for coffee drinks work fine.

You could see it on Craigslist. I've sold tons of stuff there, and brewers are the
best people.

Hmm. HomeMade malt vinegar (embrace the acetobacter!) assuming your
reasons for stopping don't include an inability to have it in the house
it before it's vinegar. But how much malt vinegar do you actually use?
One batch and set for life seems too likely.

I don't think that boiling it will be a terribly effective (or tasty)
way to get all the alcohol out - due to co-solvency (or something like
that) boiling tends to leave a good deal of alcohol behind, even though
some does go.

You didn't mention a mash tun, but assuming you have one, I guess it
could make massive amounts of tea.

I don't really do that, but I think there might be some crossover with
cheese making.

Best bet probably is to sell it and get new toys for some other hobby,
though if you have a keg setup then bubbly water is a good use for that
part.

Look into making Cheese. The large kettle and equipment might make it easier than using your kitchen kettle's or stove. With a few changes to the frig it makes a great cheese cave. Sanitation / sterilization practices and chemicals are pinnacle to making great cheeses. Source for finding "RAW" milk is a must and the best place I found for the cultures is www.Cheesemaking.com . Good luck and have fun!
